Last Minute Atlanta Gift Guide
Gifts can be tricky. You want to offer something that is useful, thoughtful, desirable, unique, and personal. But year after year, it can be difficult to capture all that is in your heart to share in one item for each person on your list. This quick list is one that includes actual items I have gifted (or am gifting this year) that are at or under $50. I am including the price and where to find it in Atlanta, because you know shopping local is a must for me.
a Watercolor workbook
Item: Many of us are looking for ways to reduce screen time. This watercolor workbook is just the thing to help. It walks the reader through the process step by step and provides simple outlines to get started.
Where to find it: Adelina Social Goods is home to many adorable, giftable items. I got this workbook and watercolor paints there. They are located inside The Works at 1295 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.
Price: $25.00
A cozy item
Item: A scarf or fuzzy blanket is a common gift that is typically a hit, but consider finding a way to elevate it just a little. These alpaca mittens are beautiful, warm, handmade, and high-quality. Perfect for your friend who likes one-of-a-kind items.
Where to find it: Made by Winterborn Alpaca, these were found at the The Christkindlmarket in Roswell, located at 180 Bulloch Ave, Roswell, GA 30075.
Price: $50.00
something nostalgic
Item: For the millennial who grew up in the library, a Mr. Men Little Miss book is a nostalgic token that is sure to surprise and delight. If you are also shopping for children’s gifts, it can serve as something special to pass on to the younger generation.
Where to find it: I picked this one up at Brave + Kind Book Shop, located at 722 W. College Ave. Decatur, GA. 30030.
Price: $5.99
A board game
Item: It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but more and more, I am meeting people who love board games. Though the options are endless, it helps to consider the household size. At a recent white elephant exchange with several couples, I brought a two-player version of a game I knew the crowd enjoyed (Azul Duel). It was a hit! From party games to strategy games, you can generally find something that is a good fit for your audience.
Where to find it: My go-to spot for games is Level Up Games, just outside Atlanta in Duluth. It is located at 3700 Satellite Blvd 9A, Duluth, GA 30096.
Price: $29.99 (Azul Duel)
A quirky coffee table book
Item: I got this for my husband last year and our guests often comment on how much they love it. This little collection of taxidermy gone wrong makes a funny book that is oh-so-right. We use it as a coffee table book; it is a fantastic conversation-starter and helps break the ice for those early moments. Even a year later, we love leafing through it for a laugh or a little shocker.
Where to find it: I found this one at Posman Books. They have multiple locations, but I bought this at 400 Avalon Boulevard, Alpharetta, Georgia, GA 30009.
Price: $13.99
something unique
Item: While we’re on the quirky side of things, this luchador coin bank is hilarious. You know the recipient will have nothing quite like it. For anyone who has an eclectic style, this unique item will bring a smile and offer something unlike anything they’ve likely received before.
Where to find it: This is from Love Train Antiques at The Works. The entire store is home to many beautiful pieces that would be a gorgeous gift. 1235 Chattahoochee Ave NW Suite 152, Atlanta, GA 30318.
Price: $35.00
a pop of color
Item: Jewelry can be incredibly subjective. Taste can be hard to pin down, but I love looking for something that will ever so slightly push the boundaries of the recipient. Enter these lovely, delicate beads from Ann Mashburn. There were many colors to choose from: teal, red, and lavender; I opted for this strand of soft orange.
Where to find it: There are many ways to gift a small yet special piece of jewelry that adds a pop of color. This necklace is from Ann Mashburn, located at 1198 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.
Price: $25.00
Something Handmade
Item: Handmade items add so much charm and are the perfect gift for someone who has it all or your friend who avoids shopping at big box stores. These little gnomes caught my eye and are unlike any ornament I’ve seen before.
Where to find it: These are from Star Provisions, located at 1460 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30318.
Price: $30.00
your favorite album
Item: People typically already own their favorite records. That is why I love gifting my favorite records! The music I know can fill a room and bring a smile. If gifting more than one, I try to mix genres to provide a sample of the albums I love.
Where to find it: Great record stores are very accessible in Atlanta. Recently, I’ve been shopping at Crates Atlanta, located at 215 Mitchell St SW, Atlanta, GA 30303
Price: $25.00+
High quality coffee beans
Item: Instead of being the person who gifts yet another mug, bring a pound of quality coffee beans instead. Coffee prices are going up in general, so your cafe-loving friend will certainly appreciate the value. Bonus points if it comes from a local roaster that you love.
Where to find it: There are many quality roasters in the Atlanta area. Here are my top five Georgia roasters. This year, I gifted coffee from Valor Coffee, located at 5531 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338.
Price: $20.00
